DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) is the amateur sports division of DeBartolo Sports and Entertainment.  DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) was founded by former San Francisco 49ers owner Edward DeBartolo Jr., the five-time Super Bowl champion and two-time Stanley Cup Champion.  His 49ers teams were built with first-class, Hall of Fame players such as Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Ronnie Lott; and visionary coaches such as Bill Walsh, George Seifert, and others. Regarded as the players owner, Mr. DeBartolo´s vision is to improve and help athletes and coaches realize their skills, talents and potentials through unparalleled, first-class developmental programs. Two of his former players, 49ers greats Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, will be mentors.
Quarterback expert Steve Clarkson and Garrett Shea, former Director of the Army All-American Bowl head up DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com). The focus is on bringing new young talent to the forefront through unparalleled, first-class developmental programs designed to promote amateur athletes and coaches by helping them reach their potential through coaching and mentoring from the pros. Their training and development experts have not only played and coached at the highest professional level, but have trained some of the most successful professional athletes.

Steve Clarkson has been recognized by HBO Real Sports, ESPN The Magazine, Business Week, and Bloomberg News as one of the nation's utmost authorities on the quarterback position. Said ESPN The Magazine: "Joe Montana entrusts both of his high school age sons to Clarkson's tutelage. So did Jim Clausen, father to three Division I-A QB's, (Notre Dame, LSU, Tennessee) who has called Steve Clarkson 'a dream maker ".

Clarkson's success as a player and coach, combined with his own personal relationships developed over the years, gives his students professional insight and expertise. He has built a who's-who client list, including NFL quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Leinart, J.P. Losman and John Beck, running back Marshawn Lynch and several Heisman Trophy winners.
Shea joins DeBartolo Sports University after being the Director of the Army All-American Bowl where he was the nation's youngest Bowl Director. He served as Bowl Director from 2005-2007 where aside from running the Bowl game he also oversaw the Bowl's National Promotional Tour, Army National Combine, Army National Coaches Convention, Army Cheer Bowl, and Army National Band Competition. During his tenure as Bowl Director the Army All-American Bowl set record highs in attendance, television ratings, and media value.
In addition to his duties as Bowl Director, Mr. Shea oversaw a regional combine program and regional coaching program. In 2003, Mr. Shea also served as the Director of the All-American Baseball Game.
Shea like Steve Clarkson was a Division 1-A athlete, he played defensive back for the Ohio State University and Rutgers University. While at Rutgers, Shea played for his father, Terry Shea, a renowned NFL and collegiate quarterback coach.

Set to debut in 2008, DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) will provide amateur athletes with an advanced training service available via the internet. This Online Training website promises to offer the most revolutionary coaching ideas on the web. 

This subscription based service gives its members exclusive access to position specific drills offered by quarterback guru, Steve Clarkson, and other DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) coaches.

Members can prepare for game day through an online film study. The team meeting room is now brought to your home computer screen! In an effort to place as much, if not more, of an emphasis on off-the-field preparation, former Division I coaches offer insight on how to dissect film, make a correct pre-snap read, and breakdown defensive coverages. Understanding how to correctly study game tape is essential to gaining the additional edge on your competition.

Additional features include member profiles and interactive forums. Creating a personal profile enables users to create workout schedules for themselves and input results and feedback from their daily training and workout routines. Live forums allow athletes to exchange training tips and share advice with fellow members as to what has given them the best results.

Steve Clarkson Quarterback Academies (QB academy - Quarterback School - quarterback clinic)

In December of 2007, DeBartolo Sports and Entertainment made a huge splash in high school athletics by creating an amateur sports division called DeBartolo Sports University. One of the first programs DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) will launch this year are the Steve Clarkson Quarterback Academies (QB academy - Quarterback School - quarterback clinic).

Steve Clarkson is the most accomplished of a new breed of personal quarterback instructors, Clarkson will host Quarterback Academies (QB academy - Quarterback School - quarterback clinic) at various Southern Californias most exquisite Division I institutions.

Steve Clarkson´s credentials have prompted various media outlets such as HBO Real Sports, ESPN the Magazine, New York Times, USA Today, and Bloomberg News to recognize him as one of the nations most powerful and influential authorities of the quarterback position. The renowned quarterback instructors long list of current NFL and collegiate players is headlined by Matt Leinart (Arizona Cardinals), Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers), J.P. Losman (Buffalo Bills), and Jimmy Clausen (University of Notre Dame).

Alongside Coach Clarkson at the Academies are other qualified quarterback specialists with former NFL or collegiate experience. DeBartolo Football Academies

Under the leadership of Mr. Edward DeBartolo Jr., who won five Super Bowls as owner of the San Francisco 49ers, DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) will offer in-depth training to prep and youth athletes at ALL POSITIONS through various DeBartolo Football Academies (Football camp - football clinic).

Keeping the intricate pieces of those 49er teams intact, All-Pro players like Jerry Rice will be on-hand at select academies to offer their insight and instruction to aspiring athletes in attendance. The coaching and mentoring from some of the All-Time greats at their respective positions is part of a mission to help athletes reach their full potential.

Promoting prep athletes and furthering them along in their development are two objectives of everyone within the DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) team. JOE MONTANA HIGH SCHOOL QUARTERBACK OF THE YEAR AWARD (Joe Montana Award)

The Joe Montana Quarterback of the Year Award (Joe Montana Award) is presented to the nation’s best high school quarterback as chosen by Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and Steve Clarkson, quarterback expert and President of DeBartolo Sports University.  Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000, Montana is universally recognized as the greatest NFL quarterback of all-time. Under the leadership of former San Francisco 49ers owner and DeBartolo Sports University (debartolosportsu.com) founder Edward DeBartolo Jr., Montana led the 49ers to four Super Bowl championships in 1982, 1985, 1989 and 1990.  The “Joe Montana Quarterback of the Year Award” is the first DeBartolo Sports University award.
