Q&A with Martin Reina:
DSU: What do you think distinguishes you from every other player in the nation?
MR: My attitude towards the game..
DSU: What do you hope to gain out of your participation in the Freddie Solomon Football Showcase?
MR: I hope to gain more knowledge along with the skills to compete with players better than me.
DSU: What are your strengths? What do you need to improve on?
MR: My strengths are that I have good footwork and good hands. I need to improve my speed.
DSU: What extracurricular or community involvement activities do you participate in?
MR: I'm in the pro life club. I participate in Habitat for Humanity exercises and I hope to go on a mission trip this year. I also love to fish and play volleyball.
DSU: Do you have a favorite player or someone you model your game after?
MR: My favorite players are Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs. I like the way they play. They run north and south and knock everything over that gets in their way. I try to have the same mindset they do. If somebody gets in your way run them over. The straightest point between two objects is a straight line.
DSU: How have you evolved over the years as a player?
MR:I won't really know until this year. I haven't had a lot of playing time quite yet but I plan to start this year
DSU: What is your proudest moment in football?
MR: My proudest moment is making a goal-line stand against Hillsborough and on 4th down intercepting a pass to take it 95 yards for a touchdown.
DSU: What celebrity would play you in the movie version of your life and why?
MR: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He is a monster.
DSU: What TV-show marathon will keep you on the couch all day?
MR: River Monsters
DSU: Who/What has been your biggest influence on football? How so?
MR: My biggest influence has been myself. Nobody forces me to play except for me. I keep myself going.
DSU: What is your favorite movie?
MR: My favorite movie is Friday Night Lights or Remember the Titans.
DSU: Who is your favorite NFL team?
MR: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
DSU: What is your favorite website?

About the Freddie Solomon Football Showcase:
Each year the Freddie Solomon Football Showcase features the top up-and-coming football talent from the Tampa Bay area and across the southeast region of the United States. This exclusive event for high school football players is modeled after the NFL combine and gives athletes the opportunity to demonstrate their physical skills and football skills in front of an audience of football scouts, members of the media and college coaches. Unique to the Freddie Solomon Football Showcase, Combine Performance Specialists first teach and coach all of the athletes on the standardized combine drills and the techniques to successfully complete each test. Athletes leave the Showcase more confident and better prepared to attend and compete at similar events.
In its previous years the showcase was called the Tampa Bay High School Football Combine, however the name was changed to honor the late Freddie Solomon for all that he did for youth athletes in Tampa Bay.
